Since Sunday the 25th of February we are back home! We have gotten a great reception at Schiphol airport and back in our own home. We have received cards, kind messages in our guest book, text messages, flowers, presents, phone calls etc etc., which was just great! It is nice to know that we have been missed and that people are happy that we are back. To tell you the truth, it is great to be back!
We hope that through our pictures and our stories you have seen what we have experienced and how much we have enjoyed it.
We have tried to come up with a list of the highlights of our trip, but we have come to the conclusion that that is simply impossible. We have had new experiences every single day and many of them were just breathtaking, inspirational, weird, impressive or mind-boggling.
Experiences
If we however would put it more in a general way we can sum up the following great experiences:
- seeing so many different cultures.
- enjoying the amazing sceneries in each and every country, from tropical rainforests to salt plains to mountains to oceans and beautiful beaches.
- enjoying the wildlife in each and every country, from lamas to vicuņas to kookaburras and koalas.
- experiencing an amazing sense of freedom every single day, the freedom to go, to stay, to do something or just nothing.
Grateful
Of course when you travel (but also when you are not), there is always a chance that something bad happens. We did visit some usually poor countries where there is generally a higher risk f.i. for being mugged. We are extremely grateful that we haven't had any really bad experiences while we were away. We haven't gotten seriously ill, we haven't had any accidents, we haven't been robbed or worse and we haven't lost anything. Also back home with our family and friends nothing really bad has happened, which is a fear you live with while being so far away from home.

- the Fam. Kraaijer for taking care of our mail (it has been a lot) and our house. Without their help it would have been much more difficult for us to do this trip.
- our family and friends for sending us emails, text messages and messages on our website, showing their appreciation of our stories and pictures but also sharing their own stories with us. Your continuous interest in our trip has meant a lot to us!
- the nice people we have met during our travels who have made our journey even more memorable.
Of course now our 'normal' life has started again, although without a job at the moment (any offers?). We have done most of the unpacking now, so the next task at hand will be trying to figure out what to do with 4.500+ pictures and 6 hours of video material.... Also finding spots on our walls and cupboards to place all of our souvenirs.
Now we will finally stop with filling your heads (and the Internet) with information on how are days have been. So if you want to know what we have done, you will simply have to give us a call!
